Some shots of my DIY Camera Dolly

Here are some shots of the completed DIY camera dolly.  Like I said in my previous post, this was not going to be a $30 rig.  All told, I think I spent around $80-$100.  It was all worth it though, because its silky smooth and whisper silent!

The PVC piping is a very versatile device as well.  To make the track longer, I can simply add a couple more pipes of longer lengths.  They are cheap too.  Under $5 a piece for 10 foot lengths!

The very last pic shows the threaded flange that I screwed to the plywood base.  The platform is very sturdy and could easily hold my weight, so my original idea was to screw a threaded metal pipe into it and stick a drummers throne on that for a simple seat.  I haven’t done that just yet, but that pipe works really well as a handle to push the dolly back and forth.

I suppose I should jot down some instructions on how to build all this for my faithful readers.  Soon!
